San Diego Chilli Report

The TSC San Diego Cruise
Just another day in paradise

The San Diego Cruise was a huge success, with the weather being perfect for this annual getaway. Attendance was actually one-fifth of our entire membership! Those making the cruise included Bill Ahrens, Wally Alexander & Sue Turiega, Chuck Callaway, Frank & Kathy Griffith, John & Ann Lubliner, Bob & Judy Patrick, Ned & Deana Pos, Fred & Carol Ray, Steven & Louise Renneckar, Pete & Venda Schmid, and Scott Sebree. Jim & Margo Panke arrived for Sunday dinner.

Everyone had time for their own activities, while also enjoying group events. Friday evening included drinks on the patio of Sun Harbor Marina and a stroll past the fishing fleet for dinner at Red Sails. (Okay, so the waitress couldn't count to six and the salads were soggy!)

Several members entered pots of chili in the Chili Cookoff,

with ANN LUBUNER WINNING 4th PLACE! We were all proud of our Arizona winner. Rumor has it that Fred Ray felt a bit woozy after tasting and judging 41 types of chili. I bet he will pass on chili for a while.

Live music kept the festivities going until 4:00pm, when everyone was saturated with beer and chili. Dinner was sketchy, with most everyone having drinks at the Silver Gate Yacht Club, with munchies compliments of the Griffiths. Ned and Deana hosted a moonlight tour of the bay in their powerboat.

Sunday morning the group enjoyed breakfast at Silver Gate, then on to their individual activities. Some went biking and others went sailing on Coyote, Jubel, the Patrick's Victory Sixteen, and the Pos' powerboat. After an exhilarating day, an interesting dinner took place at Pizza Nova (the waiter questions our sanity). There were laughs, good food, everyone tasting everyone's food, and Steven foraging wine and pizza from other tables. Scott and Wally didn't get their hot fudge sundaes

and Steven really didn't have anything to do with it, although he would have, had he thought of it.

Unfortunately, all good sailing weekends have to come to an end and most of us had to pack up and head back to Tucson. The memories of the good times and sharing the weekend with good friends will stay with us and we will look forward to next year's cruise.
